Whew. What a day. So basically I had this whole wedding post planned out for today. And then something happened. I went to church and heard this sermon:
http://mail.trinitycville.org/mp3files/TPC-20111023-GT.m3u. It is incredible and I highly recommend taking some time out of your day to listen to it. Greg Thompson is such a gifted speaker. Anyway, the message really really really convicted me about where my heart is and how I live my life. I won't go into too much detail, but I am just really looking into my heart and my faith and struggling with God about certain things. I don't think it's a bad thing at all but it is definitely a hard, real thing. One of the things I'm coming to terms with is how much I idolize wanting a relationship with a guy. And one of the things that feeds that desire is my obsession with wedding blogs and videos and photos. Don't worry, I do NOT have a wedding planned out for myself, but I do look at them and idealize and idolize marriage and romantic love and that's the problem. So I am going to take a break from my wedding obsession. My goal is for a month. Then perhaps I will share the post that I meant to post today. The wait will be worth it. No worries.
Also, I'm going to work on memorizing this psalm. If anyone wants to do it with me we can be accountability partners! Any takers???
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary,
beholding your power and glory.
Because your steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
So I will bless you as long as I live;
in your name I will lift up my hands.
My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food,
and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,
when I remember you upon my bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
for you have been my help,
and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
My soul clings to you;
your right hand upholds me.
But those who seek to destroy my life
shall go down into the depths of the earth;
they shall be given over to the power of the sword;
they shall be a portion for jackals.
But the king shall rejoice in God;
all who swear by him shall exult,
for the mouths of liars will be stopped.
