Psalm 78

Yesterday I was reading Psalm 78 and was just ROCKED by it.  It tells of how God does all these great things for Israel and yet they can still not remain loyal to Him.  Their hearts are far from God and they seek worldly pleasures to satisfy them.  And yet when things get bad they go back to God.  Even though they take full advantage of His blessings and goodness the rest of the time. And yet God restrains Himself for punishing them as they deserve.  And he keeps saving them despite their wickedness and unfaithfulness. They sound pretty terrible right?  Especially compared to the greatness of God.  But, I could 100% relate with the Israelites.  Something of which I am obviously not proud.  But, still, it reveals the commonality that ties all of us humans together. Our brokenness which stems from pride.  Pride in thinking that we know what will best satisfy us.  But when things go really bad from our wild goose chases, we turn to God, praying that He will fix our problems, that He will redeem whatever painful situation we have gotten ourselves into this time.  And you know what He does. Not because our prayers our worthy, but because He is God.  He will remain faithful even when we are faithless. That is just the nature of God.  There isn't anyone like our God.  Rejoice in that.  Glorify and bless him in your daily activities and interactions.  It is the least we can do for Him.

None But Jesus

This song just came up on my Pandora station.  And it  struck me.  The gravity of the lyrics.  Just read them.  And let them sink in.  To your core.

None But Jesus
by: Brooke Fraser

In the quiet, in the stillness
I know that You are God
In the secret of Your presence
I know there I am restored

When You call I won't refuse
Each new day again I'll choose

There is no one else for me
None but Jesus
Crucified to set me free
Now I live to bring Him praise

In the chaos, in confusion
I know You're sovereign still
In the moment of my weakness
You give me grace to do Your will

So when You call I won't delay
This my song through all my days

There is no one else for me
None but Jesus
Crucified to set me free
Now I live to bring Him praise

All my delight is in You, Lord
All of my hope, all of my strength
All my delight is in You, Lord, forevermore

This is my heart's cry for the semester.

National Human Trafficking Awareness Day

Today is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.  At Passion last week I learned that there are over 27 million people living in bondage around the world.  That is more than any other time in our history.  And most people are completely unaware that slavery even still exists, much less that it exists on such a large scale.  These people have no voice so we must be the generation that rises up to give them a voice. We must be a generation that protests this travesty.  The first step is bringing awareness to the situation.  The second is ACTION.
